The 48V Shop

Enabling the uptake of 48V.

Want to build or retrofit an RV, EV, caravan, off-grid cabin or yacht to run straight off a 48V DC battery? We list everything you need from a fridge, water pump, kettle, grill, air conditioner, water maker, compressor or windlass designed to run natively off 48V DC.

  • No inverter.
  • Simple wiring.
  • Better efficiency.
  • Better energy management.

The 48V Shop is about curating and building a catalogue with parts that enable these 48V DC systems to actually be used where native 48V DC can cut cost and complexity. Our catalogue is growing, and the more curated products we add, the more useful the catalogue becomes to customers.

We are aiming at three verticals, with three aisles, but with immense synergy between them, as many parts (or technology) can be utilized across more than one aisle.

  1. A

    Marine and off grid

    Cabins, RVs, caravans and telecoms.

  2. B

    Tools and mobility

48V plug-in tools and personal mobility.

  3. C

    New vehicles

A 48V DC auxiliary bus. Industrial machines too.

Aisle A

Marine, off grid cabins, RVs, caravans and telecoms

Native 48V cuts cost and complexity: lighting, refrigeration, cooking, water, air conditioning, on the bank you already have. No inverter in between. Reduce the parts, the conversions, and the bill.

All the watthours you use are honest, with no other waste.

Job to be done: complete a 48V DC living system from a trusted list. Made with curated parts on purpose to gain the scale, benefiting everyone.

A long tail of almost-compatible SKUs is how this market stays expensive. We keep the list short so volume can reach better economies of scale, a supply chain that can actually plan, and efficiencies you cannot get from two hundred unique parts doing the same job.

Aisle B

48V high plug-in power tools and personal mobility

Compressors, pressure cleaners, angle grinders, welders and other high-draw plug-in tools that run natively on 48V DC. Plus 48V powered personal mobility.

UniKcell comes later as a larger shared battery to power them — one pack, many tools, less e-waste.

Job to be done: give high-power portable tools and light mobility a simple, efficient 48V DC path without proprietary battery lock-in.

Aisle C

Any new vehicles wanting a 48V DC auxiliary bus

Also industrial motive or machine applications powered by 48V DC. Finish the 48V bay so the rest of the vehicle can stay 48V.

In summary

What the 48V Shop wants to achieve.

  • Catalogue

Of everything you need to design, compare and complete a 48V DC system.

  • Commonality

Operates natively on a 48V DC system, and across applicable aisles.

  • Quality, consistency

We facilitate agreement, set the design, and provide QA to keep the bar.

  • Interoperability

The same interfaces, connectors, and specifications across markets.

Three verticals. One voltage.

The synergy is the point.

Different customers, different aisles, but a great deal in common. Many of the same products, learnings, designs, and interchanges can serve off-grid living, high-power tools and mobility, and new vehicles. That is why The 48V Shop aims at these three: they all run on 48V, so curatorship, knowledge, and common parts compound when they sit under one roof.
